As part of the Relationship/Environment/Design (RED) program at the Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD), the collaborative project "Heritage Simulation" was carried out. This exhibition, held in conjunction with the National Historical Museum, presents the academic results of the first semester of the Fashion and Management I Workshops.
The exhibition, which will be available free of charge in the Museum's Governors' Hall until July 16, is a contemporary reinterpretation created by the students. Inspired by the previous exhibition "Pasado de Moda: Historias de una Colección," they focused on promoting historical national fashion through the design of contemporary garments.
The students conducted research on the exhibition and the clothing pieces on display, emphasizing the cultural aspects involved in their use, production, and significance. The proposals are divided into four thematic showcases: "Sacred Costumes," "Between Uniformity and Distinction," "The Second Skin," and "Luxury." These showcases highlight the historical value of fashion and the importance of reinterpreting it to reflect current sociocultural phenomena.
Natalia Yáñez, Director of Fashion and Management at the University of Buenos Aires (UDD), highlights the importance of this collaboration, as it not only showcases the results achieved, but also the students' creative process in different formats. She also emphasizes how the historical heritage of national fashion, new technological tools, and an updated vision of fashion are intertwined.
The RED program aims to connect UDD Design students with public and private organizations to provide them with experiential learning in real-life contexts.
"Heritage Simulation" is a unique opportunity to explore the history of national fashion and appreciate its contemporary reinterpretation. If you're in the area, be sure to visit this exhibition, which merges fashion's past and present in an innovative and creative way.
