The recent edition of Pasarela D, organized by the Fashion and Management program in the Design program, highlighted the fusion of fashion and technology under the theme "Nuclear: Fashion and Technology in Orbit." This innovative approach reflected the annual effort to incorporate technology into the world of fashion.
The Dean of Design at the University of Buenos Aires (UDD), Alejandra Amenábar, highlighted the growing synergy between human creativity and artificial intelligence, emphasizing how the latter has been a valuable tool in the design process. She also underscored the positive impact on sustainability by reducing the excessive use of raw materials.
The fashion show featured works by second- through fourth-year students, including a collaboration with Air France commemorating the airline's 90th anniversary. Another notable collection, "Volumetric Experimental Textiles," explored Latin American art, while a group of students represented Chile in Punta del Este, Uruguay, with more than 50 projects celebrating regional avant-garde movements.
The exhibition concluded with a capsule collection by Taller de Moda y Gestión V, inspired by the DNA of haute couture houses, part of which was shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art during the second Symposium of Haute Coiffure Francaise – Chile.
At the close of Pasarela D, Natalia Yáñez, Director of Design with a focus on Fashion and Management, along with representatives from the Guante and Gacel brands, announced the winners of a collaborative project. These students will have the opportunity to create a new collection for the brand, marking the success of six months of collaborative work.
In short, Pasarela D 2023 was a vibrant event that fused student creativity with technology, leaving a significant mark on the intersection of fashion and technological avant-garde, while also highlighting the collaboration and management of private companies, supporting the work and incorporating student designs into their collections.
