Moda Masculina: tendencias para una temporada de calor

Men's Fashion: Trends for a Hot Season

This season in Chile, it's time to explore new trends, colors, and styles that combine comfort, lightness, and freshness. From the beaches of Viña del Mar to the landscapes of Patagonia, summer in Chile is an invitation to wear stylish clothes.

While men's fashion in Chile tends to follow more traditional trends, we know that younger generations are daring to try new shapes, colors, drapes, and accessories that elevate their looks.

If you're one of those people who thinks they have no style or still don't know what your fashion tastes are, don't worry. At Vístete Local, we'll give you the best advice from journalist and image consultant Franco Lagos, so you can take your looks to the next level.

´Regarding the shapes and cuts of the garments that will predominate this season , Franco tells us that “ Trends change very quickly, almost once a week, but one that is very strong, at the end of last year and I think has remained much more this year, is streetwear. These are t-shirts and garments that generate a more square silhouette, so they seek to elongate the leg a little more, to give this simulation a little more height, a little more stylized. They are looser garments that I imagine have to do with a little more comfort and the temperature as well.”

Now, if you want to create a capsule wardrobe that's versatile and useful for creating many outfits, the image consultant points out, "It depends a bit on each person's style. But items that can be a little more universal and help you cope with the high temperatures could be a thin shirt, a white linen shirt, more relaxed pants—they can be cloth, ideally not too tight. Sandals, especially. Some people don't like wearing sandals very much. In that case, maybe you can go with thicker sneakers, ones that aren't as lined, or that don't have as much padding, since it helps your feet sweat less. Also, loafers, although I feel like, I don't know, they're coming in, but very slowly. It's something I recommend, but I know not everyone will like it."

On his Instagram account, Franco Lagos has more than 28,000 followers, and on the platform, he's built a community to whom he shares various fashion tips. That's why, when it comes to analyzing current men's fashion in Chile, he tells us, "I know that the type of fashion I showcase often isn't to most men's taste. But my style is much more urban, more streetwear, connected to and inspired by musical trends, movies, TV shows, and the entire context as a Latino in general. However, from what I've seen recently, at least on my account, there are people who don't like it. There are people who do like it and express it. But there are also other types of people who like it, but don't express it publicly. I think the Chilean man is a man who, despite all the social, political, and economic changes, both in Chile and around the world, still struggles to start trying new things. Fortunately, I think generations change."

Additionally, Franco told Visite Local that the boxy fit style is setting the trend with more relaxed garments, while the trending color is peach fuzz, Pantone's color of the year, so we invite you to have at least one item of clothing in this color in your closet.

On the other hand, accessories are key to completing any summer outfit, as Franco points out that sunglasses chosen according to your face shape are ideal for adding a touch of elegance to your outfit. You can also look for timeless accessories such as bags, backpacks, and scarves; they are always a good option.

One piece of advice Franco gave us that we can't ignore is that it's always a good idea to visit fairs or secondhand stores to find little gems to wear. "I'm a fan of shopping at fairs, not so much out of necessity but more for style, for entertainment, for experiencing a bit of fashion history. I think it's something that happens to a lot of people too, knowing that a garment they were holding was made years ago, is inspired by a certain concept, and symbolizes that," he says.
